Melbourne City travel to Gosford on sunday afternoon in their round 20 clash against the Mariners after a stirring 3-1 victory over a high flying Adelaide side last time out. The Mariners are coming off a scoreless draw away at Newastle in the F3 derby. Central Coast won the corresponding match 2-0 in gosford while City will be looking to build on their performance against Adelaide with another three points.
The match is set up nicely with City starting to find their form again thanks to the resurgence of towering striker Josh Kennedy who netted his first A League goal for the club last week while the Mariners could be a little shakey after having their head coach John Moss somewhat surprisingly sent on his way this morning with skipper John Hutchinson and newly appointed technical director Tony Walmsley to lead the side for the remainder of the season.
The Mariners have made two changes to their 18 man squad for this weeks clash with Matt Simon and Eddy Bosnar both headlining a return to the first team. City have also made changes to their squad with Jonotan Germano and new signing Harry Novillo both coming into the squad. City are still without Robbie Wielaert, Ben Garuccio Damien Duff and Jacob Melling who are all on the injury list.
On recent form neither side can claim favouritism but with Josh Kennedy starting to find his feet in the A league and Aaron Mooy pulling the strings in midfield it looks like City could be on their way to claiming another valuable three points in Gosford and potentially to move within 5 points of fifth placed Sydney. Expect goals and a slick Melb City side to get the job done away from home.
