Melbourne City hope flying Frenchman Harry Novillo can step into the A-League breach after Corey Gameiro's season-ending knee injury.
In just his second start after recovering from a ruptured ACL, Gameiro was left devastated by a similar injury in their 5-1 win over Perth last Friday night.
But defender Jack Clisby backed Novillo, who is still on the mend from his hamstring injury, to come into his own as the season ramps up.
"Harry's still not 100 per cent he believes and I can't wait to see what he is when he is ... he turns it on," he said.
The league's top scorers play bogey side Central Coast Mariners in Gosford on Thursday night.
